I asked my mum (I know - always a girl's best friend, right?!) what she thought of this new pattern design for Dolly's party dress and bolero and she simply said:
"That's a PROPER raggy doll dress that is, isn't it! ... Love it!"
Gotta say, she's right.I loved designing it too. And I loved the opportunity to spend a few moments lavishing over and choosing the 100% cotton fat quarters that matched and co-ordinated with each other to get the effect I was after.
The dress is fully lined in crisp white polycotton with false collar and has a bright red contrast belt. The sweatshirt fabric bolero is especially good as it's only one piece!
I'm anticipating making another dress using my neighbour's Granddaughter's baby dresses to make a keepsake dolly especially for her from her Mum's choice of her favourite outfits - A great way to make a personalised gift and recycle some treasured kids clothes.
Here's some 'in the making of' pictures:
I ended up ditching the pinny idea from the original drawings as it didn't add anything and it covered up most of the beautiful skirt fabric.
I think this will become a best-seller! In the days of the VIP launch (before it went public on the online store for download) it sold like wildfire.
All in all, a great value pattern that can be dressed up and down depending on the fabric choices and economical too as it only requires 3 fat quarters plus a ribbon or scrap piece of cotton for the waist sash.
